Why Do You Need SEO For Real Estate Investing?

The first thing most people do when they are facing difficult personal and financial situations is to search for a solution online. This is the foundation of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) to make sure your website comes up when people are searching for that solution, product, service (whatever it may be). Therefore, it’s important to have SEO for Real Estate Investing because you want to have pages on your site that answers the questions they may be looking for, and includes the keywords that they are typing into the search engine, perhaps similar to how you came across this article on SEO for Real Estate Investing! 🙂

Think about this – your target audience may be someone who is a month or so behind on their mortgage and are using search terms like “How to stop a foreclosure,” or “How to sell my house fast.” If you have a page with those keywords, and a relevant article (blog post) outlining their options, using the key word they are likely searching for, then your page is more likely to show up in the top positions for those search terms on different search engines. THIS is why SEO for Real Estate Investing is Important! So your website can be found, create leads, and ultimately convert into a deal, without using paid advertising.

A Brief Overview of SEO for Real Estate Investing

Before we discuss SEO best practices, let’s take a high level overview of what a well laid out website for your real estate investor website might look like. It is important that you optimize your website so search engines have an easier time indexing them, and displaying the appropriate page to those who are searching for key terms.

Here are some Important Factors for SEO on Real Estate Investing Websites:

  • The website domain name itself (aka, your URL)
  • Titles and headers for your site’s pages and blog posts (Include Key Words)
  • Images and/or videos you include on your site content (Image & Video titles)
  • Links you feature in your site’s navigation bar (Aka, your Menu)
  • Your URL slug (the part that comes after your URL for each website page)

Don’t worry, we won’t go into too much detail about how you can fully optimize your on-page SEO for real estate investing websites, but we do want to touch on some key points every investor should know.

Here are some more details regarding how to implement these factors into your SEO for Real Estate Investing:

1) Create niche pages & blog posts that describe your offering

One of the most important and primary factors of successful SEO for Real Estate Investing is consistently publishing original and relevant content that explains what services your company provides and answers questions that potential customers/leads may have, along with how to get ahold of you,.

Although it can be time consuming, use your passion for Real Estate Investing to write helpful, relevant posts on your website. These can be posts that explain how your business works, describes your passion for what you do, and try to think about what questions you are usually asked and try to answer those within your blog posts.

Part of this is Creating a Search Engine Optimized Outline for your website.

When you are done, you can likely expect to have 5-10+ pages packed with relevant content. Here is an example:

  1. Sell my house quickly in Phoenix

    1. Reasons why you might need to sell fast
      1. Foreclosure
      2. Divorce
      3. Job Change
      4. Natural Disaster
      5. Inherited Property
    2. How to sell your house fast in Phoenix
      1. List it on MLS for a reduced price + fees
      2. For Sale by Owner
      3. Sell to an investor
    3. How to get a Fair Market Offer
      1. Do all repairs
      2. List and pay fees
    4. Get An Offer In 24 Hours

      1. Contact us!

As you see, the tites and categories are relevant to your business, answer questions sellers likely have, and will be very helpful for your SEO for Real Estate Investing

2) Optimize your entire website with relevant, focused, and highly searched for keywords.

Before working on a new page,  conduct some keyword research to make sure you are using(repeatedly) keywords that will help you to rank well in seach engines like Google, etc. Best practice is to have at least 2% keyword density (link) for optimal results per page based on your focus keyword(link). Although it is likely a page may have multiple key words, it will usually have on focus key word or phrase such as “SEO for Real Estate Investing” (I’m going to get my 2% in this post, you can be sure of that!)
There is no way to determine how quickly your site will start ranking for these keywords, however most SEO (if done right) can be expected to start increasing rankings, depending on your market, within 30-90 days
Keywords, and implementing them properly on your site is an art form, so don’t be distraught if you don’t nail it at your first at bat. However, once you find the right combination of keywords that help your page/site, you will know you can use them again and again to help with numerous pages to rank well in searches and increase your overall SEO for Real Estate Investing strategy.

3) Leverage other blogs, news sources, websites,to help promote your website

It’s kind of like “reverse backlinking(link)” if you think about it. One of the most helpful SEO factors is how many sites link back to your site (backlink) and the same can be true of the opposite – Google and other search engines will give higher rankings to sites that link out to other sites, especially high ranking domains. Blog posts and pages should always include links that go out to other pages as part of an overall SEO strategy.  The fact is, it helps both sites, so most other website owners would have no problem with you linking to their relevant content on their websites.

4) Never Run Out Of Content. Seems impossible right? Wrong and Here’s why

See what your competitors are up to, because the fact is we all get to the point where we feel like we’ve run out of ideas. How many new topics can there possibly be? How many different ways can you re-write a blog post on a topic? Well, firstly, writing content relevant to current events, is one way! Example, how is the Coronavirus Effecting Real Estate Sales? That right there, is a highly relevant and keyword heavy topic at the moment.
Now, run a search that your leads would normally type in and see what comes up. See if any of the competing websites have come up in the rankings and what they are writing about, and do the same ( just don’t plagiarize – search engines to not like or promote pages with duplicate content). Your competitors are often some of your best sources for inspiration when it comes to SEO. Trust me, they’re doing it too! SEO is fluid, so expect to do this from time to increase and/or keep your rankings.

If you are having trouble identifying some key words or topics, there are many SEO “spy” tools  that can help your SEO for Real Estate Investing. You can use  these tools to help identify keywords and topics of competing companies’ websites.

5)Create a Strong Social Media Presence

You might not know this, but Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and other major social networks can help your SEO for Real Estate Investing and can have huge impact on how your company’s websites are found in search engines. The more presence your brand/company/website has within the major Social Media networks can play a significant role in your SEO rankings. Tweets are actually indexed by Google now, so anytime you create a tweet using certain keywords, your tweet can actually show up in the results on Google for that keyword.

Same goes for your main account on social networks as well. When someone searches your company name or website that is also being used on social media, assuming you have created a strong presense, have followers, and likes and comments on your posts, your social profile will start showing up in searches, which now plays a big role in your in boosting your SEO for Real Estate investing.

Tip – Anytime you put up a new blog post, use Zapier to automatically post it to your social media accounts. This is an easy way to automate your social media, while providing relevant content with keywords.

6) Include Links to your website when sending Relevant Emails

Although the process of sending emails does not directly impact your SEO for Real Estate Investing, it does have an impact based on the click-through rate  (the rate at which your recipients click on links in your email that link them back to your website, and the more click throughs to your website, the more positive impact it has on your search engine ranking)

Types of Traffic that can impact the SEO rankings of your site:

  1. Direct: Direct Traffic is when someone types in the URL of the site they wish to visit (vs searching for it)
  2. Referral: Referral traffic is when someone visits your website after clicking a link from another website.
  3. Organic: Organic traffic is when someone visits your site after searching for something on a search engine
  4. Paid: Paid traffic comes from sources such as PPC (pay per click) such as google adwords
  5. Display: Display traffic comes from banner and other ads placed on websites and apps
  6. Social: Social traffic comes from posts and ads on social media networks
  7. Email: Email traffic comes from clicking a link that was sent in an email

7) Add Links. Lots of Links.

I touched on this earlier, and it is worth going back to because this tactic in particular can help your site significantly. Make sure you add links. Lots of links… To reputable, high traffic websites with high domain authority.

It’s pretty easy to tell if a website is reputable, and has high domain authority because it will be a site that ranks high, usually on the 1st page of searches. So, if you want to find a good website to link to, run a quick google search, and link to one of the pages that comes up first, based on the topic or keyword you used in the search. This method will definitely help with your SEO for Real Estate Investing.

8) Add Media Content

Adding Media (video and photos) content to your site, or blog pages, has a significant impact on your rankings and can really help with your SEO for Real Estate Investing. These days, all you need is a smart phone, and you can create quality videos for your website. One of Googles more recent way of determining how to rank a site is based on videos and photos on websites. Now, a random video here or there without relevant content won’t do much for your SEO rankings, however a video with relevant content, will. Additionally, be sure to label the video or image according to the keywords. Example: if you are writing a blog post like the one you are reading right now, related to SEO for Real Estate Investing, and you are using images or videos throughout your post, label the video according to the topic. This is called “Alt Text” and is a simple way to help your SEO rankings. When someone searches for a term or phrase, and you have an image on your site labeled using that keyword in the Alt Text, the image is more likely to show up in image searches which can be clicked on and link to your site.

9) Make sure your website is mobile-friendly (Seriously, this is important).

This is not something to overlook. This is arguably one of the most important factors of any website, ensure that your have a responsive website. In other words, your website needs to be mobile-friendly and looks just as good on a smartphone, as it does on a desktop or tablet. Ensuring your site is mobile friendly will help increase your SEO for Real Estate Investing. It’s amazing how many websites I come across that are not mobile friendly, and are difficult to navigate on a smart phone. This is one of the easiest ways to get someone to navigate AWAY from your website, vs staying on it and reading your content, submitting a form, or purchasing a product. Put effort, serious effort, into ensuring you have a responsive, mobile friendly website.

10) Meta Description. Don’t overlook this.preview seo for real estate investing

Meta Description (https://moz.com/learn/seo/meta-description  ) t provides a brief summary of your we page and allows search engines, social media posts, and even text messages, to display the brief description of your site when posting or sending your link which can significantly increse your click through rate. If there is no meta description, and you post your url, people won’t know what the page is about.

Similarly, when a search engine populates your website, if there is no description, people wont know what your website is about Search engines such as Google often display the meta description in search results, which can influence click-through rates.Without an accurate description of your website, people are a lot less likely to click on your url and visit your website. So, make sure your meta description accurately explains what your website is about, and be sure to use keywords that you want your site to rank for.

How Quickly Can You Expect To See Results?

SEO does not work overnight, in fact, it can take months, however, the efforts will pay off in spades long term. So, don’t get discouraged if you don’t start ranking immediately, SEO is a long game.
